This lovely 6 1/2 acre garden includes collections of rhododendrons, primula, lilies, native plants, and alpine plants, exhibited in the Rock Garden, the Native Plant Trail, the Fern Garden, and the Rhododendron Forest.

The 100 acres of open pastures of this Victorian Italianate style house are now a municipal park with extensive gardens including a rose garden. A Conservatory, the first west of the Mississippi, is still home to tropical plants and succulents.

A half mile trail at the Steel Information Center allows the viewing of native wildflowers in August.

 Cecil and Molly Smith Rhododendron Garden: 5065 Ray Bell Road, St. Paul, OR 97137.
Cecil Smith, a rhododendron hybridizer and devotee, created this spectacular rhododendron garden.

Just over an acre, this delightful garden features a collection of rhododendron (more than 100) plus varieties of Dogwoods, Magnolias, spring flowering trees, Viburnums, Heather, Japanese Maples, Iris, primroses, geraniums, and more

This 75 acre public park's rose garden displays 1,200 bushes of 250 varieties in an East and West garden, a Memorial Garden and an Old Rose Garden. A rhododendron garden also graces the park.

This 5 acre garden displays more than 2000 species of hybrid rhododendrons, azaleas, magnolias and related plants.

 Darlingtonia State Natural Site: US 101 5 miles north of Florence, OR (800) 551-6949.
Not truly a garden, but who can resist carnivorous plants? Especially from a safe distance on the boardwalk!

 Deepwood Gardens: Deepwood Estate, 1116 Mission Street SE, Salem, OR 97302 (503) 363-1825.
This 1894 Queen Anne style house includes 5.5 acres of grounds designed by the Northwest's first female landscape architecture firm, Lord and Schryver. The 2 acre formal gardens feature an iron gazebo from the Lewis and Clark exposition, broken columns from old capitol building, and garden rooms framed with hedges (including a scroll garden). A nature trail and a greenhouse may also be seen.

This impressive 13 acre estate includes 6 acres of beautifully landscaped English-style gardens that feature magnolias and other native and exotic plants.

 The Garden of Awakening Orchids (Lan Su Yuan, The Classical Chinese Garden:  NW 3rd and Everett, Portland, OR  (503)228-8131.
Opened in September, 2000, this classical Chinese Garden, occupying a city block, features the Azure Water Yard, the Double Rainbows Resting in the Clouds bridge, the Understanding Fish Pavilion, the Cool Fragrance with Drizzling Fountain courtyard, and scenes such as "Mist and Rain Over Boat" and "Locked Moon Pavilion and Bridge", with elements of rockeries, waterfalls, a lake, and bridges.

This 62 acre Catholic Shrine and botanical garden offers more than a hundred statues and shrines along its pathways. Special areas include the natural rock altar, the Chapel of Mary, the Meditation Chapel, the Peace Garden, the Rose Garden, and St. Anne's Chapel.

This peaceful 5 1/2 acre garden offers five distinct gardens: the Flat Garden (with plants, rocks and raked white gravel), the Sand and Stone Garden (a walled garden), the Natural Garden (featuring shallow streams, waterfalls and native plants), the Strolling Pond Garden (with waterfalls, ponds, rocks and planting), and the Tea Garden (with an imported teahouse).

This 9 acre public botanical garden showcases Northwest native plants and displays over 2000 species of wildflowers, ferns, shrubs and trees in their natural habitat. Trails traverse a wetland forest, a creek, a fern walk, a peat bog, then wind past the manor house to a rock garden and dry woodlands.

This beautifully landscaped 100 acre park, whose design was assisted by John McLaren, renowned for his work at Golden Gate Park, offers lawns, ponds and woodlands. This historical textile mill includes an herb and dye garden.

This thoughtfully designed 208 acre arboretum offers 7 miles to trails for viewing native and exotic trees, shrubs, wildflowers, and cryptogams.

This exciting 240 acre world-class botanical garden under construction, with 65 acres now open, will showcase Oregon's horticultural diversity. Features will include the Grotto, the Children's Garden, the Bosque/Overlook, the Ornamental Water Garden, the Conifer Garden and the Entry Waterfall.  A Frank Lloyd Wright house has been moved to the gardens and restored.

This 65 acre zoo displays its creatures in naturalistic settings. The Zoo Train Ride features stops for the Rose Test Garden and the Japanese Garden.

This All-America Rose Selections accredited rose garden, situated along the Willamette River, features over 4,500 varieties of roses plus the 1860 Black Republican Cherry Tree, the largest cherry tree in Oregon.

This 5 acre arboretum, originally a nursery, features labeled plants from all over the world including 40 species of trees and shrubs (including azaleas and rhododendrons), pines fromm Japan, cedars from the Mediterranean and large coastal redwoods.

This arboretum displays over 200 native and exotic trees which can be viewed from 5 trails.

 Peninsula Park and Rose Gardens: N Albina & Portland Boulevard, Portland, OR 97217.
The 2 acre formal rose garden displays 8,900 bushes of 65 varieties.

This commercial iris grower offers 10 acres of display gardens.

 Shore Acres State Park (Gardens): Off US 101, 13 mi. SW of Coos Bay, Coos Bay, OR 97420 (541) 888-3732 or (800) 551-6949.
A former timber baron estate, this state park features a formal garden, an oriental-style pond and two rose gardens which include an All America Rose Selection display.

This wonderful wedding location features 4 acres of gardens including a French Rose Garden (with 1,200 bushes), an Oriental garden, a cottage garden, an English vegetable garden, a gazebo, stone ornaments, a lily pond and topiary, plus a Glass Conservatory.
